Adult Swim has officially slated January 24 for the return of its animated thriller Common Side Effects, bringing back the Peabody Award-winning series for its second season. Executive produced by Greg Daniels and Mike Judge alongside co-creators Joe Bennett and Steve Hely, the show follows the chaotic fallout of a rare mushroom capable of curing any ailment.

When viewers last checked in with fugitives Marshall and Frances, the pair had reunited in the California desert while fleeing law enforcement. DEA Agent Harrington remains in hot pursuit, while her partner, Agent Copano, continues recovering from a botched raid on a clandestine farm cultivating the Blue Angel fungus. The upcoming episodes will explore the dangerous consequences of the raid alongside the mysterious side effects tied to the miraculous healing organism.

Adult Swim leadership credits the network's audience and creative teams for pushing adult animation into uncharted territory. Co-creators Bennett and Hely humorously reaffirmed their unconventional narrative goals ahead of the premiere. New episodes air Sunday nights on Adult Swim with next-day streaming available on HBO Max.
