Minisforum has officially opened pre-orders for its latest compact workstation, the MS-S1 MAX-P495, priced at $7,399. Built around a 3.5-liter chassis, the machine's headline feature is its massive allocation of unified memory designed to handle substantial local artificial intelligence workloads.

Under the hood, the system relies on AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor. The APU features 16 Zen 5 cores, 32 threads, and a boost clock reaching up to 5.2 GHz. Its integrated neural processing unit delivers up to 55 TOPS, contributing to a total platform rating of 131 TOPS. While these processing specifications offer only marginal improvements over previous hardware generations, the supporting memory infrastructure represents a major leap forward.

The system pairs its processor with 192GB of LPDDR5X unified memory operating across a 256-bit interface, allowing up to 160GB to be assigned directly to the GPU. This expanded capacity enables developers and local AI practitioners to run massive mixture-of-experts models entirely on a single compact device. According to company testing, a single unit running DeepSeek V4 Flash achieved roughly 12 tokens per second, while clustered configurations managed larger models like Qwen3.5-397B and DeepSeek-R1 671B.

Aside from the APU and memory upgrades, the hardware shares the same design blueprint as its predecessor. It includes a 320W internal power supply, a dual-blower cooling system with six heat pipes, dual 10GbE networking ports, two 80Gbps USB4 v2 connections, and 2U rack support. Shipments for the pre-order wave are scheduled to begin in mid-October 2026.
