The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer squad ran into a resilient opponent on the road, dropping a 4-1 decision to Swarthmore College during a hard-fought non-conference matchup. Swarthmore established early momentum and capitalized on key defensive lapses, putting the visiting Ducks under constant pressure from the opening whistle.
Despite a spirited offensive push in the second half that resulted in a well-executed goal, Stevens struggled to contain Swarthmore's fluid passing attack. The home side managed to control the midfield tempo, limiting transition opportunities and forcing the Ducks into difficult defensive situations throughout the eighty-minute contest.
Coaching staff and players will look to address defensive organization and finishing efficiency as they return to campus for training sessions. With several critical conference fixtures looming on the horizon, the team must regroup quickly to regain winning form before the schedule intensifies.
The Ducks aim to bounce back in their upcoming home stand, where they hope to leverage familiar turf and home crowd support to reverse their recent fortunes and secure a crucial victory.
