Actor Ron Perlman is refusing to close the book on a potential third installment in the original Hellboy film series. During a recent interview with Deadline, Perlman made it clear that he remains entirely open to returning to the iconic demonic antihero role if director Guillermo del Toro decides to helm the project. Their creative partnership spans decades, starting with Cronos in 1992 and including projects like Blade II and Pacific Rim, though their 2004 and 2008 Hellboy adaptations remain fan favorites.

The actor pointed out that the narrative structure of the franchise was always envisioned as a three-part story. Hellboy II: The Golden Army concluded on a notable cliffhanger involving the Liz Sherman character expecting twins, alongside unresolved tension regarding Hellboy's destined role in destroying the world. Perlman stressed that those major plot threads were specifically meant to be resolved in a concluding chapter.

Despite subsequent attempts to reboot the property with other actors and directors—including a 2019 feature starring David Harbour and the 2024 release Hellboy: The Crooked Man—Perlman maintains he has no interest in any iteration outside of a reunion with del Toro. Acknowledging the passage of time, the actor expressed absolute willingness to step back into the heavy prosthetic makeup even years down the line to deliver the planned epic conclusion.
