Amazon is bidding farewell to its budget-friendly Fire HD tablet lineup, clearing out inventory by offering steep discounts on devices like the Fire HD 10. The move marks a strategic shift away from affordable media consumption tablets toward pricier, premium hardware running advanced smart assistant features. While the budget era of Amazon hardware approaches its finish line, shoppers still have a brief window to secure deeply discounted hardware.
The Fire HD 10 currently sits at an all-time low price of $72.99, shaving roughly 48 percent off its standard retail tag and dropping below the cost of the smaller Fire HD 8 model. Despite carrying low-end specifications that struggle with heavy mobile gaming, the device features a spacious 10.1-inch 1080p display, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and up to 13 hours of battery life. Users can also expand the standard 32GB storage using a microSD card slot up to 1TB for offline media storage.
Although these devices operate on Amazon's proprietary Fire OS instead of standard Android, tech enthusiasts can still sideload apps with moderate effort. Furthermore, the tablet supports Alexa Plus for Prime members, offering enhanced smart home management capabilities. As Amazon pivots toward its upcoming, more expensive Alexa Tablets, these final clearance markdowns represent the last chance to grab a low-cost media consumption device directly from the retailer.
