Fans of the long-running animated spy comedy Archer will soon get fresh material from the creative minds behind the show. HBO Max has handed a two-season order to Merrick & Treves, a half-hour animated series created by Adam Reed, Casey Willis, and Lucky Yates. The project marks a major return for the trio, bringing their distinct comedic style to a historical sci-fi premise set in Victorian Britain.

The narrative centers on Queen Victoria’s top secret Royal Temporal Constabulary. According to the official logline, the show follows a band of unlikely heroes navigating different eras in an effort to track down and stop Jack the Ripper. The title characters draw inspiration from historical figures: Joseph Merrick, historically known as the Elephant Man, and Sir Frederick Treves, the surgeon who took him in at a Whitechapel hospital near the infamous killer's stomping grounds.

Production details remain under wraps, with no casting announcements made yet. While the creators have expressed excitement over partnering with HBO, fans are already speculating about potential voice talent, including whether veteran voice actors like H. Jon Benjamin might join the lineup. A premiere date has not yet been announced by the streaming platform.
