Apple has officially entered the foldable market with the iPhone Duo, putting pressure on established Android manufacturers who have refined the book-style form factor for years. While the Duo makes a strong entrance, comparing it to options from Samsung, Google, and Motorola reveals a complex landscape of trade-offs in size, cameras, durability, and pricing.

Display dimensions highlight the initial differences. The iPhone Duo features a 5.4-inch outer screen and a 7.6-inch inner display. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 comes closest with a 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch interior display. Meanwhile, Google's Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Motorola's Razr Fold stretch larger, offering more expansive inner screens exceeding 8 inches. The Duo is also the heaviest of the group at 9 ounces, out-weighing the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at 7.09 ounces, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at 8.4 ounces, and the Razr Fold at 8.6 ounces.

Optics and build quality further separate the contenders. The Duo packs a 12-megapixel Center Stage front camera alongside a pair of 48MP rear sensors. Samsung counters with dual 50MP rear cameras and a 10MP front sensor, while the Pixel 11 Pro Fold includes a 48MP main camera paired with a 10.8MP telephoto lens. Motorola leads on raw megapixel counts with 50MP main, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses alongside a 20MP selfie camera. For durability, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold matches Apple's IP68 dust and water resistance rating, whereas Samsung and Motorola models sit at IP48 or IP49.

Pricing across the US market remains remarkably tight. The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999.99 for the 256GB model, while the competing Galaxy Z Fold 8, Pixel 11 Pro Fold, and Motorola Razr Fold all hover around $1,899.99. International options like Xiaomi's 18 Fold offer nearly identical dimensions to the Duo and Z Fold 8, but remain unavailable to buyers in the United States. Ultimately, shoppers weighing these luxury devices will find that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 serves as the closest general equivalent to Apple's latest hardware.
