Casio is following up on its initial ring-sized timepiece experiment with a new model modeled directly after the iconic A168 digital watch originally released in 1995. The freshly introduced CRW-002 strips away the overwhelming complexity of modern health trackers and smart rings, offering a straightforward timepiece that lives entirely on your finger without requiring a companion smartphone application. This hardware approach relies on a specialized module that engineers shrunk down to roughly one-tenth the footprint of a traditional watch movement.

Despite its remarkably small scale, the accessory manages to pack in several functional elements familiar to fans of vintage digital watches. The injection-molded metal housing features three operational side buttons alongside a six-digit LCD screen equipped with a practical LED backlight. Users can configure the display for either 12-hour or 24-hour timekeeping formats, utilize a 1/100-second stopwatch, and even program the backlight to pulse at designated intervals or at the top of each hour. The device also includes water resistance for everyday durability.

Naturally, designing a functioning digital watch at this scale requires physical compromises, notably regarding fit and adjustability. The CRW-002 is manufactured to accommodate a size 10.5 finger, while additional spacers are included in the package to secure the miniature band on smaller digits. Casio plans to offer the wearable in two distinct finishes, pricing the silver iteration at $135 and the gold version at $155, with both models scheduled to hit select retailers and the company official web store in November.
