Kaiju enthusiasts finally have a reason to clear shelf space. Lego has officially revealed its long-awaited Godzilla set, marking a major milestone for the fan-driven Lego Ideas platform. Spanning 5,363 pieces, the massive build officially stands as the largest Lego Ideas set released so far. Standing over two feet tall when configured with its swappable heat ray effect, the model captures the imposing scale of Legendary’s Monsterverse iteration. The journey to store shelves took several years, starting with an initial submission in 2023, a resubmission in 2024, and final approval in 2025 before securing its official release date of November 27.

Designer Matthew Esposito spearheaded the passion project, combining a lifelong fandom for both brick-building and the iconic monster. According to Esposito, replicating the distinct proportions and head shape posed the most difficult engineering hurdle during development. The concept gained massive traction online, eventually surpassing the 10,000-supporters threshold required by the Lego Ideas program to move into official production. Early buyers who place orders during the initial release window will also receive a special gift featuring the classic Godzilla logo and footprint.

Carrying a retail price tag of $450, the collectible targets dedicated hobbyists and adult builders rather than casual buyers. While the design draws from the modern cinematic Monsterverse rather than traditional Toho aesthetics, the sheer brick count and intricate articulation offer an unprecedented building experience for monster movie fans. Preorders and additional purchasing details are set to roll out ahead of the late November launch.
