Apple has released iOS 27.0.1, its first software update for iOS 27, bringing fixes for several issues affecting iPhone users. The update was released on September 28, 2026, and is available for compatible iPhone models.
The update is particularly important for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max users. According to Apple’s release notes, the update fixes an issue where the devices could unexpectedly restart when Face ID failed to authenticate. Some users had reported that their phones could freeze and reboot after an unsuccessful Face ID attempt.
Camera Issue Also Fixed
Apple has also addressed a camera-related problem affecting a small number of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices.
Under certain lighting conditions, photos captured at 2x zoom at f/1.48 could show a color artifact. Apple has included a fix for this issue in iOS 27.0.1.
Touchscreen Bug Gets a Fix
The update also fixes an issue involving the Notification Center and Control Center. Apple says that opening both at the same time could cause the touchscreen to become temporarily unresponsive.
Along with these fixes, iOS 27.0.1 contains general bug fixes for iPhone users. Apple lists the update as available for iPhone 11 and later, including the iPhone 18 Pro models.
How to Install iOS 27.0.1
iPhone users can check for the update by going to:
Settings → General → Software Update
If the update is available for the device, users can download and install iOS 27.0.1 from there.
The release comes shortly after Apple acknowledged the Face ID-related problem on some iPhone 18 Pro models and confirmed that a software update was being prepared to address it.
