Google Gemini 4 Argon: What’s New
Google has introduced Gemini 4 Argon, a new frontier AI model designed for complex, long-running tasks across software engineering, enterprise knowledge work and cybersecurity.
The model is currently being rolled out to a limited group of trusted cybersecurity defenders through Google's Fairwind Program, while Google continues testing its safety systems before broader availability.
KEY FEATURES OF GEMINI 4 ARGON
1. Advanced Coding and Software Engineering
Gemini 4 Argon is designed to handle complex software-engineering tasks, including debugging, code optimization and large-scale codebase migrations.
Google says its engineers are already using Argon internally for tasks ranging from everyday debugging to large-scale C/C++ to Rust migrations.
2. 1 Million Token Output Limit
One of the major upgrades is Argon's 1-million-token output limit, increased from the previous 64,000-token limit.
This allows the model to sustain much longer reasoning and generate significantly larger outputs for complex tasks.
3. Enterprise Work
Google says Argon is designed for professional workflows including finance, legal research, tax-related work and business automation.
The model can also work with visual information such as charts, documents and long videos.
4. Cybersecurity Defense
Cybersecurity is a major focus of Gemini 4 Argon.
Google says the model can autonomously find, validate and patch critical software vulnerabilities. It is initially being provided to trusted cyber defenders so they can use its capabilities for defensive security work.
5. Stronger AI Safety
Google is taking a phased approach to the release because of the model's advanced capabilities.
The company says it has added safeguards against misuse, prompt-injection attacks and potential misalignment, while also strengthening monitoring and sandboxed environments.
WHEN WILL GEMINI 4 ARGON BE AVAILABLE?
Gemini 4 Argon is not yet broadly available.
Google is first gathering feedback from trusted testers and cyber defenders. The company says broader access will begin with paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers, followed by wider availability.
PRICING
Google announced an introductory price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. After the introductory period, the price is expected to increase to $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens.
