Biwin Unveils Tiny 2TB Mini SSD Designed for Portable Gaming

Biwin has introduced its CL100 Mini SSD, an extremely compact NVMe storage device designed primarily for space-constrained hardware such as gaming handhelds and mini PCs. The drive was highlighted on October 2, 2026, with its tiny form factor making it one of the more unusual storage products to appear in the consumer hardware market recently.
The CL100 measures only 15 × 17 × 1.4 mm and weighs no more than approximately 1 gram. Despite its size, Biwin offers the drive with capacities of 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. It uses a PCIe 4.0 ×2 interface with NVMe 1.4, allowing the larger-capacity versions to reach sequential read speeds of up to 3,700 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 3,400 MB/s.
The drive is particularly interesting for gaming handhelds, where internal space is extremely limited. Instead of using the larger M.2 2230 format found in devices such as the Steam Deck, the CL100 uses a much smaller proprietary slot that resembles the tray used for a SIM card. This allows manufacturers to provide upgradeable storage without consuming as much internal space.
Biwin has already designed the format into several portable gaming systems, including OneXPlayer and GPD devices. The company also offers an external reader that allows the Mini SSD to be connected through USB-C.
While the format is currently proprietary and its wider adoption remains uncertain, the CL100 demonstrates how SSD manufacturers are experimenting with smaller storage hardware without giving up NVMe-level performance.
