Mecka AI has secured $60 million in a Series B funding round led by Sequoia, with additional participation from Nvidia and Microsoft’s venture fund M12. Founded in 2024, the startup focuses on collecting and analyzing human motion data to help train humanoid and general-purpose robots.

The company operates on a model similar to data-labeling powerhouses like Scale AI, which supply the critical human-generated datasets required to train large language models. To build its robotics datasets, Mecka AI compensates individuals to record themselves performing everyday tasks such as making coffee or fixing cars. Participants wear body sensors and use smartphones to capture these real-world movements.

The market for real-world robotics training data has attracted significant investor attention. Other startups operating in the space include XDOF, while established human-data platforms that originally focused on LLMs are also expanding into the robotics sector.

With the fresh capital from its $60 million round, Mecka AI aims to solidify its position as a primary infrastructure provider for robotics developers seeking physical world training data.
