Steam Updates Client Beta to Support Grouped Achievement Sets and DLC Tracking

Valve is introducing a major update to Steam achievements called achievement sets, giving developers the ability to categorize milestones for base games and downloadable content into distinct groups. Players will continue unlocking achievements through normal gameplay, but browsing completed goals will now look significantly different. Instead of navigating one massive, endless list, users will see achievements neatly separated into developer-defined categories equipped with their own dedicated progress bars.

Alongside the organizational overhaul, completing an entire set rewards players with a special trophy visible directly on their profile. Valve has also built functionality for seasonal and time-limited achievement sets that creators can archive when events conclude. This opens up new avenues for holiday updates and rotation-based multiplayer titles, bringing fresh flexibility to how achievements function on the platform.

A select group of titles already supports the new framework, including Portal 2, Team Fortress 2, Euro Truck Simulator 2, and Crusader Kings III. To accommodate the structural changes, Valve is simultaneously refreshing the main Steam achievements page to present a clearer summary of overall completion metrics alongside individual set breakdowns. The updated features are currently rolling out through the latest Steam client beta.
