Horror legend Clive Barker is setting his sights back on the big screen. Following the recent launch of Saber Interactive's video game, which marked the franchise's first major pulse in years to a solid reception, Barker is ready to dive back into the Cenobite mythos. Speaking with Dread Central, the creator described the game's release as a wake-up call to dust off unfilmed concepts and revisit familiar worlds through an entirely fresh lens.

The momentum comes after years of legal and creative roadblocks. Barker regained the rights to his foundational work in 2020, decades after signing away story and character rights prior to the release of the 1987 original. In the intervening years, the property suffered through a string of low-budget sequels produced primarily by the Weinstein brothers to maintain copyright control. Barker noted that the exhausting compromises and corporate interference of that era are conditions he will never entertain again, pointing to past films as products of a studio system that milked the brand while shortchanging creative talent.

While fans await tangible updates on the delayed HBO television series or a follow-up to Hulu's 2022 reboot, Barker confirms he is actively plotting multiple ideas spanning film and additional media. Comic books have launched throughout the year and are scheduled to continue into the next, ensuring the horror universe remains active. For now, Barker intends to keep his fingers in the pie, signaling that Pinhead and his terrifying disciples may soon find their way back to cinema.
