NetEase is leveraging major cinematic nostalgia for its upcoming hero shooter update. As part of the ongoing Path to Doomsday saga, Marvel Rivals is dropping a fresh player-versus-environment mode that directly channels the climax of Avengers: Endgame. Set entirely within the shattered ruins of the Avengers Compound, the upcoming mode gathers fifty players to take on Thanos and his massive invading army.
While gameplay details remain tightly under wraps beyond the core objective of defeating the antagonist forces, promotional material shows a striking commitment to source material. The cinematic sequence even replicates the iconic final snap, complete with the villain dissolving into dust. Fans who felt disappointed by missing rosters in past cinematic battles will finally see characters like the Netflix Defenders, Jeff the Shark, Gorr, and Luna Snow step into the fray.
At the same time, the heavy reliance on film nostalgia highlights missing MCU rosters, noting the absence of figures like Captain Marvel, Sam Wilson, Gamora, and Nebula. Even so, the scale of this cooperative clash aims to deliver a unique chaotic arena experience. The special Endgame-inspired event officially arrives in Marvel Rivals on October 24.
