Elon Musk Confirms Tesla and SpaceX Have Formed Committees to Discuss Merger

Tesla and SpaceX have established special committees to evaluate a potential merger between the two corporate giants. Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk revealed the ongoing discussions during SpaceX's third-quarter earnings call on Tuesday, noting that while no definitive terms have been reached, he personally believes the consolidation makes strategic sense.

While Musk endorsed the concept during the earnings call, pointing out that he views the union as a strong proposition, he emphasized that the final decision rests entirely with the newly formed special committees of both organizations. There remains no absolute guarantee that negotiations will successfully culminate in a finalized transaction.

Speculation surrounding a corporate combination intensified earlier this month when Barclays issued a client note indicating a potential Tesla and SpaceX integration could surface prior to Tesla's upcoming annual shareholder meeting in December 2026. Market analysts and investors continue to monitor the situation as both corporate boards navigate the preliminary discussions.
