Amazon Australia has increased its Prime membership fees by up to thirty percent, marking the second time the company has raised subscription costs since launching operations in the country back in 2018. New subscribers immediately face the updated pricing structure, which pushes the monthly rate from AU$9.99 to AU$12.99. Meanwhile, the annual commitment jumps from AU$79 to AU$99, representing a twenty-five percent increase for yearly customers.
Existing members will continue paying their current rates until their first membership renewal date arrives on or after November 25. Despite the higher cost, the core lineup of perks attached to the subscription remains unchanged. Subscribers retain access to Prime Video, Music Prime, Prime Reading, video games via Amazon Luna, expedited delivery options, and exclusive shopping events like Prime Day and Big Deal Days.
An Amazon spokesperson defended the adjustment by pointing to massive logistical expansions across the country over the past six months. The company recently opened its third Sydney fulfilment centre in Horsley Park, designed to serve a vast portion of the local population with overnight and same-day delivery speeds. Representatives also cited ongoing investments in entertainment catalogues, live sports, and digital services as justification for the updated subscription fees.
