Anthropic has officially announced a research preview for its latest agentic platform, Claude Duet. Moving away from the playful mascots and whimsical branding adopted by competitors in the consumer-facing AI space, Anthropic has opted for a minimalist design and a strictly business-oriented pitch. The platform features dedicated applications for both iOS and Android, though immediate access remains limited.

At present, general users must join a waitlist, and the platform is geared toward existing Claude Pro and Max subscribers. Anthropic built the platform around Claude Opus 5.5, though the company stopped short of confirming exclusive reliance on the top-tier model. Early case studies highlight features like calendar integration, where the agent automatically prepares client briefs and detects scheduling conflicts, such as meetings overlapping with upcoming flights.

Functionality relies heavily on Claude's existing ecosystem of roughly 6,000 connectors and plugins that link natively with third-party software like Gmail and Slack. Furthermore, upcoming features will allow the agent to sign into websites using credentials saved in 1Password, provided users grant explicit permission. Anthropic acknowledges that this early version still faces occasional performance hiccups, such as misreading email threads or misjudging urgency.

Safety and security disclosures indicate the platform utilizes the same underlying safety protocols found in standard Claude and Claude Code products. Despite the advanced capabilities and autonomous workflows, the company is bypassing the anthropomorphic design trends seen across rival AI tools, leaving users with a straightforward, utilitarian interface.
