Inside the Pentagon Secret Office Targeting Foreign Technology

The Department of Defense has quietly established a clandestine operational arm aimed at disrupting foreign technology programs that threaten United States military superiority. Operating under the unassuming name Information on the Technology Support Office, or TSO, the secretive unit was formed in April by merging two classified Pentagon intelligence programs that have been active since 2023. While references to the TSO appear in only a handful of internal records, national security officials confirm its mandate is to expand global technological sabotage.

Conceived by Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg and senior advisor Tom Rakusan, the office targets emerging advancements such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and drones. To neutralize foreign vulnerabilities and maintain national security, the TSO leverages a playbook that includes cyberattacks, supply chain disruptions, and disinformation operations. Rather than executing direct missions itself, the organization functions as a specialized procurement and development pipeline, supplying advanced tools to teams of engineers, intelligence officers, and special operators.

Despite strong backing from officials who argue that modern geopolitical threats demand aggressive technological deterrence, the office's secretive nature has sparked internal alarms. Critics within the defense establishment question the adequacy of existing approval structures and regulatory oversight. Without rigorous transparency, past precedents of intelligence overreach loom large over the newly formed agency as it navigates the murky waters of classified cyber warfare and global espionage.
