After months of anticipation following their initial unveiling in May 2025, Xreal has finally opened orders for the Aura XR glasses in the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea. To attract early adopters, the company is rolling out an introductory discount period through December. Buyers looking at the 12GB RAM configuration with 256GB of storage can pick up a pair for $1,099 instead of the standard $1,279 retail price. Meanwhile, the higher-end 16GB RAM model featuring 512GB of storage drops from $1,500 down to $1,299. Xreal states that the initial wave of hardware orders is scheduled to begin shipping out by mid-November.
Alongside the hardware release, Xreal introduced a lineup of compatible accessories aimed at expanding utility. A dedicated game controller, developed in partnership with GameSir, features a built-in Gemini key. Additionally, a compact wireless portable keyboard is launching alongside the glasses to support productivity tasks and multi-window virtual workflows. Despite the premium price tag, the tethered device packs substantial specifications into a lightweight frame.
The hardware architecture relies on an external compute puck functioning as the primary processing brain. The glasses themselves tip the scales at under 95 grams while housing a micro-OLED display capable of a 1200p maximum resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Users also get a 70-degree field of view during operation. This setup positions Xreal directly against upcoming competitors like Meta's rival XR glasses, which target a similar 70-degree field of view and price point ahead of a scheduled spring 2027 release.
