Home theater enthusiasts hunting for ultra-large displays have long faced two significant barriers: extreme price tags and a hard size limit hovering just under 100 inches. Currently, tracking down an OLED panel larger than 97 inches is impossible, and existing models command staggering prices reaching upwards of twenty thousand dollars. That market dynamic could soon shift as manufacturing investments target the next generation of giant consumer screens.

According to recent industry analysis from TrendForce, LG Display and its manufacturing partner, Guangzhou Development Zone Holding Group, are pouring an additional 1 billion yuan into upgrading their production facilities. These infrastructure enhancements focus squarely on large-size OLED module manufacturing, with target sizes spanning 77-inch, 83-inch, 97-inch, and a massive 111-inch panel that stands as a primary highlight of the upcoming project.

While current 97-inch models rely on older panel architectures that trail behind the peak brightness and color accuracy found in smaller sibling lineups, these manufacturing upgrades could bridge the technological gap. Competing aggressively against increasingly affordable, ultra-bright mini-LED displays from rival brands, pushing production yields higher for massive panels may ultimately drive down manufacturing costs across the entire large-format OLED ecosystem.
