Google has officially announced the winding down of Jules, its experimental AI coding agent that launched in 2025. Despite initial optimism around its asynchronous capabilities designed to help developers ship software faster, the tech giant is consolidating its agentic AI strategy under a unified experience known as Antigravity.

Developers currently relying on the platform have until November 11, 2027, to wrap up ongoing projects. Following this deadline, Jules will transition into a strictly read-only state. To facilitate the transition, Google has rolled out an export utility allowing users to download account settings, environment variables, connected repositories, and complete session histories including code patches and prompt plans.

Although Google maintained a large beta testing base, Jules faced relentless competition in a crowded marketplace populated by GitHub Copilot, Anthropic offerings, and OpenAI tools. Rather than letting the codebase vanish entirely, the core insights gathered from the Jules experiment will directly shape the development path of the Antigravity initiative moving forward.
