Analog audio keeps finding unexpected ways back into the mainstream hardware market. Coolgeek, a brand previously known for its illuminated vinyl turntables, has introduced the P1 Cassette Player via a new crowdfunding campaign. The device blends traditional magnetic tape playback with modern upgrades like Bluetooth 5.3 and a built-in high-definition display.
Unlike the brightly colored, pastel aesthetic favored by several recent retro audio devices, the P1 leans into a distinctly industrial and mechanical look. The chassis features a transparent housing that lets users watch the magnetic tape spin, alongside integrated colorful LED indicator columns. Beyond wireless streaming capabilities for modern earbuds and headphones, the player retains standard physical inputs including a 3.5mm headphone jack, complemented by a USB-C charging port.
The standard retail price for the hardware is set at $179, though early backers on Kickstarter can secure units at discounted tier rates during the initial campaign window. While crowdfunding hardware always carries standard project delivery risks, Coolgeek indicates that production is sufficiently advanced, pointing toward a relatively straightforward manufacturing turnaround once the campaign concludes.
