Apple is tightening control over App Store content by requiring developers to disclose whether their applications facilitate romantic connections between real individuals or virtual entities. Starting soon, submission forms inside App Store Connect will feature explicit descriptor questions aimed at properly categorizing relationship software and location-sharing utilities.
Under the new policy, any software flagged for dating or relationship functions will automatically receive a minimum age restriction of 18+. Consequently, these services will be blocked from appearing for minors whose guardians have enabled content restrictions on their Apple devices. Furthermore, underage users attempting to access these restricted titles will need to verify their adulthood directly with the company.
Developers must begin addressing these inquiries through the platform questionnaire for any new submissions or upcoming updates. Existing applications have a firm compliance deadline to complete the questionnaire across their active catalogs, ensuring transparent classification standards globally.
