Pangram is expanding its software lineup beyond text by introducing detection capabilities for AI-generated video and images. Subscribers can now upload video clips to the platform to check if artificial intelligence was utilized during creation or editing. The system goes beyond a simple binary result, offering a breakdown that distinguishes between fully synthetic footage and clips that incorporate partial AI elements. Furthermore, the video tool includes a heatmap feature to pinpoint specific segments of a recording that triggered the detection flags.
The company reports that its underlying video detection model excels at catching output from frontier video generators. Internal testing yielded accuracy rates exceeding 98 percent when identifying AI-crafted video content. Alongside the video feature, Pangram is pushing its image detection model into broader circulation. Originally launched as a research preview, the Pangram Image 1.0 model is now integrated into a Chrome browser extension that automatically scans visual content while users browse the web.
Internal evaluations for the image model recorded a detection rate above 99 percent alongside a low false positive rate. However, limitations remain for lower resolutions, as images under 512 by 512 pixels generate reduced-confidence warnings. CEO Max Spero highlighted the engineering hurdles involved in separating fully synthetic visuals from authentic photos that undergo automatic AI-based postprocessing on standard smartphone cameras. The updated media detection suite is currently accessible to paying subscribers, with limited free checks available to non-subscribers.
