General Motors has issued an official vehicle recall affecting roughly 67,380 electric vehicles across the United States following reports of temporary braking loss. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration filing notes that the issue stems from an underlying software glitch within the brake system control module affecting specific all-wheel-drive models.
The recall targets several high-profile luxury and mainstream electric models, including the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV, alongside three distinct Cadillac nameplates: the Lyriq, Vistiq, and Celestiq. Federal safety regulators have logged 20 minor low-speed incidents linked to the software fault, resulting in two minor injuries so far.
Fortunately for affected owners, the technical flaw requires no physical mechanical overhaul for the vast majority of vehicles. General Motors plans to deploy a straightforward software patch via an over-the-air update, or owners can visit a local dealership to receive the fix free of charge.
