India’s biggest festive shopping season is about to begin, with Amazon and Flipkart preparing for their major Diwali sales. Amazon has officially announced that its Great Indian Festival 2026 will begin on October 8, bringing discounts across smartphones, laptops, televisions, appliances, fashion, beauty and home products. Flipkart’s Big Billion Days 2026 will also offer early access from October 8, while the sale opens to all customers on October 9.
Amazon says shoppers can expect discounts of up to 80% across selected categories, along with a 10% instant discount on eligible SBI Credit and Debit Card transactions and EMI purchases. Prime members can also receive additional benefits and extra savings during the festival. Amazon has already started revealing smartphone deals, including offers on Samsung, Apple, OnePlus and other brands.
Flipkart is preparing an equally aggressive campaign. Its Big Billion Days sale will feature smartphones, laptops, gaming products, TVs, appliances, fashion and home products. Eligible Flipkart Plus, VIP members and certain cardholders receive early access from midnight on October 8, while general access begins October 9. Flipkart has also confirmed up to 10% instant discounts on eligible Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards, along with exchange offers and no-cost EMI options.
This year’s competition extends beyond discounts. Flipkart has expanded its logistics network by adding 14 million sq. ft. of warehousing capacity and more than 750 new PIN codes, including Leh, Kargil and several northeastern regions, ahead of the festive rush.
For consumers, the battle means more choices, aggressive smartphone and electronics pricing, exchange bonuses and bank offers during one of India's biggest shopping periods.
