Nostalgia for early portable digital media players is driving a new hardware concept called Sudo. The upcoming device borrows heavily from classic aesthetics, blending design cues reminiscent of the iPod Classic and the Microsoft Zune with modern hardware standards. Despite its retro appearance, the portable player incorporates contemporary conveniences including a USB-C port for charging and data transfer.

Under the hood, Sudo packs 64GB of built-in storage alongside a microSD card slot capable of reading cards up to 1TB. Audiophiles can connect listening gear via Bluetooth or a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. The physical dimensions measure 103.5 mm by 58.6 mm by 8.5 mm, keeping it strictly in traditional MP3 player territory. Navigation relies on a lower-mounted clickwheel paired with a 2.73-inch touchscreen display positioned at the top.

The proprietary Sudo OS enables both offline listening and direct streaming through supported apps, delivering an estimated 20 hours of continuous playback per charge. The aluminum chassis will be manufactured in four colorways: Silver, Basalt, Forest, and Tangerine. While creators are weighing a potential upgrade from an LCD screen to an OLED panel, final technical specifications remain fluid.

Prospective buyers can currently secure a unit with a fully refundable $50 deposit across the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. The final retail price is projected to land under $250 when the device officially ships, though production timelines stretch out toward late 2027.
