Anthropic has aggressively built out its infrastructure capabilities by hiring Google's former global design and construction chief, John M. Wilson. Wilson, who spent six years managing data center development and subsea infrastructure programs at Google and previously served as Amazon's European design and construction leader, now oversees EMEA capacity delivery at Anthropic.

The high-profile recruitment extends well beyond a single executive. Anthropic has successfully onboarded a steady stream of former Google infrastructure specialists spanning critical operational domains. Winnie Leung now leads data center infrastructure for the company, while Brett Rogers transitioned after overseeing construction activities at Google. Additional hires include Liwen Mao as data center design lead, Adam Johnson as electrical lead, and Peter Sarossy handling data center security engineering after a twenty-year tenure at Google.

The strategic talent acquisition also covers advanced technology, operations, and finance. Zach Miller manages data center operations after seventeen years at Google, and Scarlett Chen joined the technical staff following previous work in advanced technology. Furthermore, Sana Ouji and Mike Brinker joined the energy and capacity delivery teams, while Asad Malik took over compute finance strategy.

This influx of seasoned veterans gives Anthropic deep expertise across construction, electrical engineering, security, operations, energy procurement, and financial planning. As the company races to secure the massive computational power required for advanced artificial intelligence development, building dedicated physical infrastructure at this scale remains a critical operational hurdle. Meanwhile, the steady exodus of senior talent poses a distinct retention challenge for Google as competition for specialized data center expertise intensifies.
