Paramount+ used its presence at New York Comic Con to share early details regarding the sophomore and final season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Franchise celebrations brought William Shatner to the stage for conversations hosted by Ben Stiller, while panels shifted focus toward the streaming series' return next March.

The upcoming season places the cadet characters into their second year aboard the USS Athena. Plot outlines released by the studio indicate that the curriculum will test student leadership, romance, and morality through competitive school tournaments, diplomatic negotiations, and rising rivalries.

Production additions include veteran actors Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt as notable guest stars. Nighy steps into the role of Nyk Ake, who serves as the estranged father to Holly Hunter's character, Nahla Ake. Meanwhile, DeWitt joins the cast as Laytha Sadal, the First Lady of Betazed and mother to cadet Tarima Sadal, played by Zoë Steiner.

These additions complement a narrative arc that also introduces a mysterious new student named Keats, portrayed by Ruaridh Aldington. First teased at San Diego Comic-Con, the character's background introduces complications that extend past the academy grounds. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy streams on Paramount+ starting in March.
