Owners of second- and third-generation Apple TV 4K devices will soon gain access to advanced AI-powered assistant features without needing to purchase new hardware. Apple has confirmed that a forthcoming software update will bring Siri AI capabilities to these older streaming boxes, letting users tap into broader personal context, deeper media knowledge, and richer content recommendations.

The updated experience allows the assistant to pull up specific past recommendations, reference previous viewing history, and locate specific character backgrounds or episodes upon request. While the newer fourth-generation hardware packs a faster processor and supports a more robust surround sound setup with multiple HomePod speakers, the incoming software rollout ensures that living rooms equipped with older Apple TV hardware will still receive major software enhancements.

Regional availability for the beta feature at launch includes the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom in English. Alongside the software refresh, Apple is also making its redesigned Siri Remote—featuring an integrated speaker and ultra-wideband Precision Finding support—available as a separate standalone purchase that remains compatible with previous-generation Apple TV hardware.
