A mainline entry in the Assassin's Creed franchise set in ancient China might sound like a dream project for fans of the stealth-action series. According to newly leaked footage of a reportedly canceled title called Assassin's Creed Destiny, that vision will likely never reach storefronts. MP1st recently published a video showcasing gameplay and placeholder assets from the allegedly scrapped project, which was reportedly being developed collaboratively by Ubisoft and Tencent.

The leaked video displays the game's title alongside a setting dated to 206 BCE during the Qin Empire. The footage features a playable character scaling castle walls and executing stealth kills characteristic of the long-running franchise. Meanwhile, the placeholder clips highlight various combat skills and distinctive weaponry, including a lethal umbrella. With the project reportedly sidelined, this raw material risks remaining permanently trapped in development purgatory.

Despite the cancellation of Destiny, Ubisoft maintains another Qin-era project in its pipeline. Assassin's Creed Jade was announced in 2022 as a mobile entry designed to bring the ancient Chinese setting to smaller screens. Although initial communications were sparse, a Reuters report indicated a delay into 2025, and a company executive recently confirmed the title will feature cooperative gameplay. Whether elements from the shelved Destiny project will ever migrate to Jade remains uncertain as players await further updates from the publisher.
