TikTok has permanently banned the advertising account for an upcoming four-hour documentary about Elon Musk, marking the latest promotional hurdle for the film. Distributor Bleecker Street received notification from the platform stating the account suffered a permanent suspension due to its political content.

Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, the documentary has faced pushback across multiple social media ecosystems. Meta and YouTube initially rejected advertisements promoting the film's trailer, though both platforms later permitted the ads to run, with Meta attributing its initial block to an automated error. Meanwhile, X, the social media platform owned by Musk himself, has completely declined to carry advertisements for the film.

The release strategy has navigated various industry complications alongside platform restrictions. Universal, the film's international distributor, briefly reconsidered its release plans before deciding to move forward. The documentary debuted in a limited theatrical run of four theaters and plans a broader rollout ahead of a streaming release scheduled on HBO next year.
