Casting is moving forward for Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men feature film, with Ben Wang currently in talks to take on the role of Bobby Drake, better known as Iceman. While the studio has not yet officially confirmed the casting, the actor is lined up to join a developing ensemble cast ahead of the movie's planned May 5, 2028 release date.
The project already features a notable roster of talent attached to key mutant roles. The current lineup includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury. Shawn Ashmore previously portrayed Iceman on screen, last appearing in the role in the 2014 film X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Wang has been building momentum with prominent appearances in several upcoming and recent high-profile projects, including Karate Kid: Legends, The Long Walk, and The Hunger Games: The Sunset on the Reaping. The upcoming X-Men feature will be directed by Jake Schreier, working from a script penned by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. Production on the film is expected to kick off in the coming months.
