Federal safety regulators announced a major recall affecting more than 630,000 lithium-ion battery packs utilized in popular portable speaker systems. The action follows at least seven documented incidents where the battery units experienced severe thermal failure, resulting in melting, smoke production, and active fires. The affected units power the S1 Pro and S1 Pro+ Portable Bluetooth Speaker Systems, distributed both as integrated components and as standalone accessories or replacement parts.

Distributed widely across major retail channels and e-commerce platforms including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and the manufacturer's direct web store, the impacted batteries were retailed between December 2017 and July 2026. Standalone units were sold at prices ranging from $100 to $160. In addition to the extensive United States distribution, approximately 35,000 of the recalled units reached consumers in Canada.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission urges owners to immediately halt the use of the affected battery packs and operate their speakers exclusively via direct AC power. Consumers can verify whether their hardware is impacted by locating the specific 17-digit serial number printed directly on the battery pack—distinct from the speaker's serial number—and checking it against the manufacturer's online verification portal.

Proper disposal of the hazardous hardware remains critical, as regulatory agencies advise against discarding lithium-ion cells in standard household trash. Owners should instead utilize designated municipal collection programs or specialized recycling drop boxes located at major retail and home improvement centers to mitigate ongoing safety risks.
