Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Manager Zero-Day Under Active Exploitation
Cisco has
disclosed that it recently became aware of the active exploitation of
CVE-2026-20262, a zero-day vulnerability in its Catalyst SD-WAN Manager
platform. The flaw allows attackers to perform arbitrary file writes on
affected systems, potentially enabling code execution, configuration tampering,
or the establishment of persistent backdoors within enterprise WAN
environments.
SD-WAN
solutions are widely deployed across enterprise and service provider networks
to manage wide area network connectivity, making a zero-day in this platform
particularly significant. Successful exploitation could allow attackers to
manipulate network routing, intercept traffic, or disrupt connectivity across
multiple organizational sites.
Cisco has
released an emergency security advisory and is urging all customers running
affected versions of Catalyst SD-WAN Manager to apply available mitigations and
patches immediately. In cases where patches are not yet available, Cisco
recommends restricting administrative access to the management interface from
untrusted networks.
This
vulnerability follows a series of high-profile networking device exploits in
2026, reinforcing the view among security experts that network infrastructure
devices represent a critical and often under-patched attack surface.
Organizations are encouraged to include network devices in their vulnerability
management programs with the same urgency applied to servers and endpoints.
