Android Security Bulletin June 2026: 124 Patches Released, One Zero-Day
Actively Exploited
Google's June
2026 Android Security Bulletin addresses 124 vulnerabilities spanning the
Framework, System, kernel, and chipset components of the Android operating
system. Among the patched flaws is CVE-2025-48595, a critical vulnerability
marked as under "limited, targeted exploitation" at the time of
disclosure — meaning it was being actively used in real-world attacks against
specific high-value targets.
CVE-2025-48595
is described by security researchers as a particularly severe flaw because it
does not require any user interaction to exploit. Attackers can trigger the
vulnerability remotely, escalate privileges without friction, and establish
persistent access on compromised devices — all without the victim clicking a
link or opening a file.
"The
phrase 'limited, targeted exploitation' in a security bulletin should be
treated as a high-priority alert," said a mobile security researcher.
"Targeted today does not mean limited tomorrow — these vulnerabilities
routinely expand to broader exploitation once proof-of-concept code
circulates."
Android
device manufacturers and carriers are urged to push the June security update to
users as quickly as possible. End users should ensure automatic system updates
are enabled on their devices and apply security patches as soon as they become
available.
