The Rochester Institute of Technology men's hockey squad faced a tough defensive wall over the weekend, dropping a 2-0 decision to Army in a physical conference battle. Despite generating sustained offensive pressure during the second and third periods, the Tigers could not solve the home team's goaltender, who turned away every shot on goal to secure the shutout.

Army opened the scoring midway through the first period capitalizing on a power-play opportunity. The early deficit forced RIT to chase the game, altering their usual tactical approach and opening up ice for counter-attacks. Even with aggressive forechecking and several close scoring chances, the visiting offense lacked the final touch needed to break through.

Goaltending remained a bright spot for the Tigers throughout the sixty minutes, as the defensive unit blocked numerous shots and kept the score within reach. However, special teams proved to be the decisive factor, with Army converting critical chances while neutralizing RIT's man-advantage units.

Looking ahead, the coaching staff plans to address offensive execution and power-play efficiency during practice sessions this week. The Tigers return to home ice next weekend, aiming to rebound against conference rivals and restore momentum to their regular-season campaign.
